Melbourne, last night. Maid of Honor covered six furlongs in 1.18. Purple and Sesport were out, but were not given their heads, being treated to slow work.
Cicero, Gungadin, and Adler did 11miles in 2.19, and Lancaster 1J- miles, the last l? r mile being done in 2.14, and tho last mile with Sagacity in 1.46. So-long boat Roscommon over six furlongs in 1.46. Town Clock ran six furlongs in 1.24. Australian beat First Mate hard held over 9 furlongs in 1.554. Betting is dull, tho ruling prices being as follows : Wakeful 8 to 1, Advance 7 to to 1, Watch Dog 8 to 1, Fulminato 10 to 1.
Sydney, last night. The Daily Telegraph warns speculators who are pinning faith and money on the New Zealand crack, Advance, and tho Sydney flyer, Fulminate, for tho Nowmarket Handicap, that a new record in the matter of weight will have to be established for either to win. Advanco is to carry 9.11, and Fulminato 9.10. Allowing for her sex, the latter is really conceding weight to the much-discussed visitor.
