Hail! King Edward the Seventh, Who—a factor in the zenith
Of the world’s greatest empire— Art proclaimed King and Emperor. EX'
alted Sire; Blest with a grave and glorious privilege As heir of such an heritage. The traditions of the British Lion To thee, O most noble scion Of a beloved Queen, art committed. Whom be there so fitted To bear the responsibility ? Nurtured on principles true and just, Embalmed in the cradle of perfect trust In the King of Glory; Trained as a vine whose tender shoots In maturity would bear the fruits Of a loving and virtuous woman’s care, Who, on bended knee in nightly prayer, Sought for inspiration, Thee to guide and to bring, And to mould as the future King Of the British nation. Tho’ we deeply grieve our departed Queen, (The best the world has ever seen) Assauged is our paiii. Advanced in years, thou hast stood the
test, And, in’your subjects love God blest, Long may you reign.' The bells have tolled times eighty-two, Eyes dimmed with tears are seen, As we’re bidding a last adieu To our beloved Queen. While yet we mourn—in joyous peal The bells in thousands ring, With’.mighty voice, his subjects leal Chant out —God save the King !
