The Turf Club’s Meeting.

The race meeting to be hold this wook will, if the weather is favourable, be far and away the most successful over held in tho district. There aro splendid fields to select from, and in addition to tho patronage that will bo given by the public generally, an invitation has been oxtended to the volunteers to attend on Thursday. It will no doubt bo a pleasant change for the Indian troopers to got a run out to tho races, instead of being kept on what is really only fatigue duty. It should bo a pleasuro to them, and it will be a pleasure to country people to meot tho soldiers on the race ground. Notes by Stbaight Tip. As the caretaker, Mr Bryant, has spared neither pains nor oxponso to have tho courso and grounds, otc., at tho Mokaraka Racecourse kept in perfect order, tho surroundings arc extroinoly beautiful, a delightful “ Picknickers’ Paradise.”

All the horses engaged havo arrived excepting Donovan, who will be hero by Tuesday’s boat from Napior. Tho nominations and acceptances aro really good, therefore patrons of tho turf will see larger fields and bottor racing than wo havo ever had hitherto.

Tho visiting horse-owners and trainers are specially pleased with the courso and training track, all then: horses doing well and putting in very strong work. Large dividends arc predicted, as owing to tho handieapper it will bo a most difficult matter to settle on a “ bird.”

As there is always a very largo gathering of tho fair sex at the Turf Club Races, owing to tho chivalry and liberality of tho club members, straight tips in your Thursday morning’s issue will enable our lady friends to win gloves in galoro at this record meeting.
