The Troops at Napier

ORDER OF PROCESSION.

The following is a description of the debarkation of the Imperial troops at Napier, and the order of march : In a single trip the Tutanekai brought all the troops ashore, the Glasgow wharf keing kept clear to prevent any interference with their landing. The men and their officers marched to the root of the breakwater and were then formed up. A large crowd had by this time assembled on the wharf and the approaches, but thb throng was not so dense as expected, owing to the fact that the greater majority of the public had already taken up advantageous points of observation along the line of march through the town. Eventually everything was in readiness and in the following order the procession started on its march: — Advance Guard, East Coast (Gisborne) Mounteds Carriages conveying Mayor, Government Party, Borough Councillors, and Members Reception Com- , mittee.
