SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP.

Dunedin, last night.
At the Dunedin Amateur Swimming Club’s tournament the one hundred yards championship of Otago was won by G. A. Tyler, of Auckland, who beat A. M. Sims, of Dunedin, by less than two feet, The time tyas 75 l.Ssecs. The foundation stone of a now Convent for the Sisters of JMercy at South Dunedin was laid to-day by Archbishop Redwood in the presence of a large attendance. Pontifical High Mass was celebrated by Bishop Grimes, Archbishop Carr, of Melbourne, being the preacher The amount laid on tho stone as a contribution was nearly .2500.
