FALL IN PRICE OF MEAT.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Napier, last night. Messrs Nelson have received the following cable from the Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company : “ Fall of one-eighth of a penny in North Island mutton, and the market shows a downward tendency. To-day’s quotations are: Best Canterbury 4}d, best Napier and North Island 4j-d.”
Wanganui, last night. Messrs Freeman’ R. Jackson and Co., continued their ram fair yesterday. The attendance was large, but except for Border and English Leicesters, the bidding lower, and owners had to accept at least 4to 1 guinea less than yesterday. Mr W. Wilson’s flock of Lincolns topped the second day’s market with .£4 9s 6d, and the New Zealand Laiid Company’s Border Leicesters averaged ,£6 10s 9d, Mr A. Martin’s English Leicesters £5 10s 3d, und Mr J. S. Holmes’ £5 Bs. Altogether 1400 rams were sold under the hammer, and the few Lincolns withdrawn will no doubt find buyers to:inorrow.
