LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.

Christohurch, last night. Government has purchased 32 acres on the river Heathcote, near Port Hills, about two miles from town, for closer settlement purposes. The property was originally known as Packer’s, but for some years was owned by Mr J. Freeman, confectioner. The price is .190 per acre. DREDGING.
The Hokitika River Gold Dredging Company to-day appointed Mr J. Tough a dredge master.
