Mr W. X Sykes, surgeon dentist, left for Napier last night, and will be absent from Gisborne until Saturday morning. A strange omission was made from the list of those invited to go to Napier last night. Major McCredie, who is on the active list of Field Artillery, was not included in the list. This is an inexcusable oversight, seeing that the Major had taken so much pains to assist in the selection of each of the war contingents. The following were yesterday selected from the Gisborne Rifles to attend the demonstration at Napier:—Captain Warren, Lieutenants Lewis and Bold, Sergeant Williams, Corporals Skipworth, Taylor, and Rawson, Bugler Cooper, and Privates Sampey, Yardley, Blakeley, Latham, File, Smith, Doyle, Franklin, Morrell, Black, McKinley, Gray, G.
