*_ Mrs Howie, the gifted vocalist, is .to leave Dunedin for England on March 4. "We are pleased to learn that Mr Harry Martin, who was dangerously ill, is now on the fair way towards recovery. Mrs. Chrisp, sen., mother' of Captain Chrisp and Mr E. Chrisp, passed away last evening, at the age of 84. The Hon. F. H. Fraser, Chairman of the Wellington Harbor Board, arrives in Gisborne to-morrow, to attend the Rechabite Council meeting. Mr Nairn, proprietor of the Pourere station, Hawke’s Bay, is on a visit from the Old Country, and. is staying in Gisborne for a time.
One of the delegates to the Rechabites’ Conference this week will bo Mr F. H. Barnard, a son of Mr Orrne Barnard, formerly of Gisborne. Captain Blair, of Adelaide, who has been in Gisborne for a holiday after his return from the war, is leaving for Australia this evening. At [the Holy Trinity Church yesterday afternoon Cap tarn Briscoe, of the ship Grace Harwar, was married to Mrs Turner, late of Newcastle, N.S.W. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Herbert Williams. Captain Briscoe’s son acted as best man. The shipping in port was gaily decorated yesterday as an acknowledgment of the event,
