Wharf Accommodation.

At the meeting of the Harbor Board yesterday there was some discussion on the subject of the new wharf. The Engineer said it would be necessary to attend to the road near the new wharf.

Tlio Chairman: Who is to do it, the Board or Council ?

The Engineer: That is the question. Mr Macfarlane: Will the road require lowering ? The Chairman said he thought that it would not be worth the expense to lower the road, his belief being that in time it would be necessary to extend the wharf until it reacliod the bank near the bridge, and in that case it would bo better to have an incline near the new post office, the wharf and general road traffic being distinct, as they should be.

Mr Clark : But in the meantime will they have to come down by the present wharf and then back again ? The Chairman : Yes. Mr Cooper said that the increasing trade made it necessary to have the wharf farther extended without delay. The Chairman : As soon as the Board can see its way we should do that. It is a question for the Board. Mr Cooper: I think we should have it done.

It was agreed to allow the matter to Stand over. .
