THE BROKEN CABLE,
By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright Sydney, last night. Arrived, R.M.S. Alameda. Advices received to-night state, that the cable repairing steamer has picked up the Batavia end of the cable. Memorial services were held at ail the churches throughout the Commonwealth to-day. Lord Hopetoun attended at St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church, accompanied by his two sons. Professor Harper preached an impressive sermon to a crowded congregation.
