Period of National Mourning.

TO BE OBSERVED TO-DAY. Shortly after midnight the following official information was received at the local telegraph office from - the head office at Wellington :

To-day (Thursday) will be observed as a day of national mourning in the Post and Telegraph Department. The post office and the telephone exchange will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. only. The telegraph office will be open all day, but communication can only be obtained after 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and after 8 p.m. with offices which are usually open until midnight. There will be one delivery by letter-carriers, commencing at 8 a.m.
