The Railway Department has been advised that fifteen of the sixty-three passenger cars which it ordered some months ago from St. Louis (XJ.S.) are on their way-to the colony from San Francisco by the Alameda. The remainder of the cars will be shipped at the same port on the 23rd instant. The carriages were designed by the Railway Department, and will be in every respect superior to any now in use in New Zealand. We trust that the member for Waiapu will see that the claims qt this distijct are not overlooked, an<l that some of these new American caps will be available lor the Gisboxne-Karaka lailway.
