Salvation Army.
FAREWELLING OF OFFICERS.
Three officers of the Salvation Army, who have in a quiet way been doing splendid work in this district, leave Gisborne this evening. Captain McKay has been transferred to Nelson and the Lieutenant to Collingwood. Captain Houlden, a lady officer, who has been resting in Gisborne for six months, is going to Lyttelton. The Lieutenant is to take charge of the Collingwood station, with promotion to a captaincy, though he has not yet received official intimation to that effect. The Gisborne station is to be taken by Captain Hill, from Waimate, an officer who is very highly spoken of by those who know him. He arrives on Sunday morning, and a welcome meeting will be held on that day. The outgoing officers have the hearty good wishes of Gisborne people. They are hard and earnest workers who should do good in any field.
