OUR BOYS GO BY THE DUKE OF
CORNWALL.

Wellington, last night. The steamer that is to carry the Sixth Contingent to the Cape is the Duke of Cornwall, of 1000 tons, which took one of the Queensland contingents last year. All her fittings were then kept, and are available. The Imperial authorities will bear the cost of transport, which is stated to be very much less than that incurred respecting any previous New Zealand contingent.
the local representatives. At a meeting of the Patriotic Committee, held yesterday afternoon, it was decided to give the Gisborne section of the sixth contingent a good send-off this evening. The men, after (lining at the Masonic Hotel, will, accompanied by the City and Whataupoko Bands and volunteers, march to the wharf, where they will go aboard the Tuna to join the Waihora in the roadstead. The Waihi, with a band aboard, will also run an excursion to the steamer, as a portion of the farewell demonstration to the contingent. Abont 15 members of the contingent were taken for a drive into the country yesterday by Messrs T. Steele and O’Reilly (proprietor Albion Stables). The men speak very highly of their treatment by the gentlemen named, and also by those along the route. They were splendidly entertained last night at a smoke concert at the Albion Hotel.
