Mr McGavin, the obliging and popular postmaster at Tokomaru, is at present in town.
Mr J. H. Brown, who arrived at Auckland yesterday per s.s. Sierra, is the representative of an influential Birmingham manufacturing firm which intends to open up large branches a New Zealand. Mr Brown will possibly pay a visit to Gisborne next month. The Auckland bowlers who arrive tomorrow include Dr King, the well-known medico, and Mr Towsey, the talented musical conductor. The latter is a brother of Mr Towsey, who was at one time organist at Holy Trinity Church, Gisborne. Aucklanders will regret to read in our telegrams of the death of Mr Donald Ross, a well-known figure in shipping circles and a most enthusiastic bowler. Inconsequence of the death of Mr Ross, it is considered? improbable that Mr Thomson, President. of the Bowling Association, and Mr Gorrie, the Avvjkland skip, will ?ome to Gisborne,
