THE NARROW GAUGE.

TIIE EDITOR GISBORNE TIMES. Sir, —By calculation I find that a wind pressure of iolb per square foot would upset every carriage in a train on a 2ft gauge, and by the courtesy of the Rev. Herbert Williams, I am in possession of the fact that at his observatory his gauge registered a pressure of nearly iSlb per square foot, and that gentleman is confident that in the open the wind pressure was much greater than at his observatory, which is situated in a comparatively sheltered place.—l am, etc., A. Y. Ross.
