CARE OF THE AGED

Sir,— The Herald of September 26 informed us that “Mr. Fairbairn had reported that the Presbyterian Social Service Association was contemplating providing some accommodation for elderly people in a residential home (in Gisborne). No other projects were known.” “The problem of providing suitable accommodation for the aged and infirm in the communitv should be considered by all public spirited people. It is one of the great and urgent problems of our day.” So reads a pamphlet issued by the P.S.S.A. some time ago. There are Presbyterian homes for the aged at Invercargill. Dunedin, Timaru, and Auckland, and new homes are planned to be opened in the near future at Hastings, Invercargill, Oamaru, Christchurch and Wellington. It is to be hoped that a home in Gisborne will soon be provided. Can any reader say how far the proposal has progressed? SENEX.
