Pay Rise Granted To U.K. Farm Workers

LONDON, Sept. 22. The Central Agricultural Wages Board today granted 200,000 land workers in Britain a wage rise but refused to reduce the hours or give longer paid holidays. The increases were 6/- a /week for men and 5/- for women.

The National Union of Farmers, which opposed any increase, said the decision would mean a substantial increase in the cost of food production at a time when rising costs of living were causing serious concern.
