PRODUCE MARKET: WELLINGTON RATES

Most lines closed on a strong note at the Wellington produce market on Thursday, states the weekly report of Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Limited, fruit and produce merchants, Wellington.

Tree tomatoes, Chinese gooseberries and passionfruit were in keen demand. Hothouse tomatoes were increasing in supply. Potatoes were at famine prices. The vegetable market had been much easier this week.

Quotations. —Asparagus. 2s 2d to 3s 3d; broad beans. Is 7d to 2s; peas. Is 9d to 2s 4d; new potatoes, fid to Did; sprouts.
