Colour Filters Described To Camera Club
At Thursday night's meeting of the C-isborrie Camera Club members enjoyed a comprehensive talk or. colour filters, giver, by Mr C. A. Brausch. "Briefly," he "said, ‘filters enabled us :o render In black and grey the relative brightness of objects as seen with our eyes."
Demonstrated in graph form, it was shown that the sensitivity of the eyes to the various colours did not follow the same lines as that of a photographic film. However, by the use of a suitable colour filter it was possible to bend the line of sensitivity of a film to follow more closlcy that of our eyes. With another diagram the speaker demonstrated how the effects of any of tlie usual filters on light passing to the sensitive film emulsion could be accurately anticipated. Without this knowledge a photographer got little value from using filters. Having covered the theoretical side of the subject. Mr. Brausch devoted some time to explaining a number of practical points in the application and successful use of filters. The entries for the "set subject competition, for which the Esplanade War Memorial had been chosen, were on the display board. This competition had been judged by Mr. Auton Low and resulted as follows. —A Class: T. E. Gresham. 1; B. Dallas, 2: W. H. Griffin, hon. mention. B Class: H. Sayers. 1; A. George. 2; J. Wilson, hon. mention. Another "set subject” competition has been arranged to close at the end of November. At nex- meeting entries will close for the “spring shot" competition.
