A notice in the current issue cf the New Zealand Gazette refers :o the acquisition by the Crowr. of an area of lane adjacent tc the Gisborne aerodrome for aerodrome purposes, the ares, being a little more than ar. acre and three-quarters.

The ’.and comprises four sections with frontages tc Scott Street, Te Hapara It is separated from Darton Fieid by an arm of the swamp, and is adjacent to sections on which the Air Department has built housing accommodation for its permanent officers in Gisborne.

At me time the land now acquired carried a clump of pinus insignis trees which, due to rapid growth of recent years had set up i flying hazard affecting one of the main approaches to the field. The trees have been felled by the department, and acquisition of the land by the Crown will ensure that further tree-planting In that locality will take full cognisance of the proximity of the aerodrome.
