AGREEMENT ON AMENDMENTS TO TENANCY BILL

(Snecial) WELLINGTON. Sept. IC. Goodwills on the sale of businesses will not be restricted, but the existing restrictions for residences will remain. This agreement was reached yesterday afternoon when teams of managers from both the House of Representatives and the Legislative Council met to consider the amendments put forward by the Council to the Tenancy Amendment Bill. The decision of the joint managers was announced in the House by the Minister of Labour, Mr. W. Sullivan. Mr. A. McLagan (Opp., Riccarton), another member of the team of managers. expressed his concurrence with the agreement. He said that personally he ■ would have preferred to see some controls remaining on goodwills, but that was not the point at issue. The report of the managers was agreed to.
