FARMER FOUND SHOT WITH RIFLE NEARBY

A farmer was found shot in the head on his farm near Rukuhia, near Hamilton, at about 1.30 yesterday afternoon. He was:

Mr. John Boyd, aged 62. married, with an adult family of three.

A share-milker, Mr. A. Cook, and a neighbour, Mr. D. Henderson, met Mr. Boyd's son shortly before the body was found. Ho told them he was looking for his father, who had been missing from the farmhouse for about half an hour. Soon after Mr, Henderson and Mr. Cookfound the body in a ditch near a gateway about a quarter of a mile from the house. A .22 calibre rifle was near the body.
