LAKE LEVELS RISE SLIGHTLY WITH RAIN

<P.A.) AUCKLAND, Sept. fi. In the Waikarcmoana catchment area nearly I.sin. of rain fell during the 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning. The lake level then showed an improvement of ,2ft. since yesterday and .7ft. since Monday. The lake level at 9 o'clock was 15.9 ft. below full. In the Taupo catchment area ,sin. of rain was recorded for the same period. The lake is now 15.05 ft. below the maximum control level, which is an improvement of ,15ft. in the past 24 hours.
