SANDS WINS ON T.K.O. IN THIRD ROUND

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 23. The Australian aborigine, Clem Sands, punched his way to win over Phil Wallace, of Auckland, in the third of a scheduled 10-round professional fight in the Auckland Town Hall last night. A short right to the jaw dropped Wallace for the count of four and when he rose the referee, Mr. Eric Armishaw, ruled him unfit to continue. Wallace cut his nose on the canvas in falling, but Mr, Armishaw said afterward that this had nothing to do with his decision to stop the fight. Sands, who wore walking shoes when he weighed in, scaled 10st. 131 b. Wallace weighed list. 31b. He was under a £2O forfeit to make list. 41b. The bout was at catch-weights. Wallace was outpunched from the start.
