BEEF AND SHEEP VALUES EASIER AT WESTFIELD

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. July 27. Beef values eased again at the Westfield fat stock sale yesterday and quotations were 2s per 1001 b. down on last week’s rates. Large numbers of sheep were penned and although there was a steady demand values again eased Is to 2s per liead. Lambs, in average numbers, sold readily at late quotations. The demand was very keen for a smaller yarding of calves. Values for all classes showed a further improvement. The number of pigs penned remained fairly steady and prices were equal to late quotations for pork and bacon sows in pig sold readily. Prices for a small yarding of stores were lower. Beef.—Extra choice ox. to £3 Ss per 1001 b.: choice and prime. £3 4s to £3 7s: ordinary. £2 18s to £3 3s: extra prime young cow and heifer to £3 ss: choice and prime, £3 to £3 4s: ordinary cow beef, £2 15s to £2 19s: extra heavy prime steers, £27 to £2B 15s: heavy. £24 to £26 15s; medium, £2l to £23 17s Cd: light. £lB 17s 6d to £2O 17s 6d; small and unfinished. £l4 to £lB 15s; extra heavy prime cows and heifers. £l7 to £18: heavy prime cows. £ls 5s to £l6 15s: medium. £l3 to £ls 2s 6d: light. £lO to £l2 17s 6d- small and unfinished £7 to £9 17s 6d.
