RETAILERS ASK FOR RETENTION OF SYSTEM OF FRUIT IMPORTS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. July 26. A deputation from the New Zealand Federation of Retail Fruiterers and Greengrovers yesterday requested the Minister of Marketing. Mr. K. J. Holyoake. to retain the present system of importing fruits by the Marketing Department. The federation considered the system vital to the interests of New Zealand consumers.

The Minister assured the deputation that full consideration would be given to the representations.

Citrus fruits, bananas, pineapples and other fruits are imported.
