N.Z. DEFENCE POTENTIAL UNDER DAILY REVIEW IN EMPIRE COLLABORATION

(P. At ) WELLINGTON, July 25. The Prime Minister, Mr. S. G. Holland, said today: “Every aspect of our defence potential and the pai’t we can play is under daily review by the Government in consultation and collaboration with other Empire countries and with the United States.” Mr. Holland was commenting on the reported suggestion of Major-General IT. E. Barrowclough that men in the 21-26 years of age group, who were too young to serve in the last war, should be trained in case they were required for any future overseas service.

Mr. Holland said that he had thd greatest respect for Ma.ior-General Borrowclough’s views, but it must always be remembered New Zealand's place in the overall plans was a matter for final decision by the planning authorities at the highest Pvcl in the Empire, always, of course, subject to New Zealand's own decision.
