Development Of Art In Gisborne Is Noted At Exhibition

The growth and development of art in til is district is fully demonstrated by interesting and varied pictures—numbering over 100 —which comprise an exhibition of work by local members of the F. 3. and East Coast Ait Society. The exhibition opened last evening in the Music Room. Palmerston Road, with a preview for members and their guests. Considerable interest attached to the fact that a large proportion of the work depicts ■ local scenes and subjects of interest to Gisborne people, who were quick to appreciate the artists’ interpretation of places they knew. Seascapes, landscapes, still life and portraits were presented in a variety of media, including water-colours, oils and pastels.
