New 27-Acre Site For Te Karaka D.H.S.
(Special) NAPIER, July 22. Agricultural courses may be set up when the Hawke’s Bay Education Board acquires a new 27-acre site for the Te Karaka District High School. An indication of this was' given to vesterdav’s meeting of the board by the chairman, Mr. A. H. Sivewrignt. who said that the large site that the board was hopeful of purchasing would probablv be suitable for agricultural instruction. . Future needs of the Gisborne Intermediate and Central schools are to be investigated soon, and the board is to ask an official of the Education Department to survey their requirements. in view of the increased rolls that are expected next year. Members favoured a prefabricated building, costing between £l5O and £2OO. being erected at the Tolaga Bay School as a staff room. Mr. Sivcwright described this school as “a disgraceful place a dilapidated eye-sore, and a bint on our activities in this area." He considered, however, the chances of getting a new school at Tolaga Bay reasonably good.
