Peking's Hymn Of Hate In East Against U.S.
(10 a.m.) HONG KONG, July 24. As Communist China continues to rush troops north to Manchuria, which borders North Korea, Peking propagandists are redoubling their efforts to sow hatred and distrust of the Americans.
The radio and press, in tune with other Communist countries, are daily chorusing the theme of American aggression and likening the American action to that of Hitler and the leaders of imperial Japan. This propaganda offensive is directed not only at China’s 450,000,000 people, but also through multi-language broadcasts to all the Eastern races from Japan to Burma. Peking’s description of the Korean fighting is as fantastically biased as its Interpretation of American policy statements.
Today, for instance. Peking not only described the American attacks in Korea as “wanton, indiscriminate mass murder," but repeated yet again the charge that "on June 27 President Truman issued an outrageous statement announcing the invasion of Formosa, an attack on the Korean People's Democratic Republic and interference with the people's liberation movements in Indo-China and the Philippines.” The statements almost daily repeat Peking’s intention to capture Formosa irrespective of American action, but the atatements no longer hint when the assault is planned, although Formosa and Tibet were earlier announced on the civil war programme for 1950. Peking propaganda is concentrated almost entirely against the Americans. There has been one recent reference to her "British. Australian and New Zealand accomplices” which, otherwise, get no other recognition than a general reference to American “flunkeys.” Many statements suggest that Peking Is attempting to rally the whole of Asia against the West and announcements dealing with the Korean war seek to instU the idea that the Eastern races are superior both militarily and in tether ways. Peking continues to acknowlege freely the leadership of Moscow.
