Famous Manipulative Surgeon’s Death
LONDON, July 21
Sir Herbert Barker, the world famous manipulative surgeon, died today aged 81. Sir Herbert Barker —“the man with the miracle hands" —spent the best part of his life fighting for recognition for the art of manipulative surgery'. t At his death he had achieved both world-wide recognition—he was given a knighthood as far back as 1922 —and success undreamed of in his early pioneer days when fully 90 per cent of the British medical profession turned their back on him.
Princes and paupers, leaders of industry, athletes and artists were among the 40,000 cases he claimed to have treated successfully.
