No Hopeful Signs Of Ending Hostilities
WASHINGTON, July 21. The Secretary of State, Mr. Dean Acheson, said today there was nothing in sight on the diplomatic front that offered any hope for an early settlement of the Korean war.
He told a press conference that the chances for a negotiated peace in the near future were almost nil unless the North Korean forces suddenly decided to withdraw behind the 38th parallel, a decision he considered very unlikely.
