GISBORNE ARTISTS' WORK ON EXHIBITION TO PUBLIC THIS WEEK
An exhibition of work by the members .of the Gisborne branch of the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Art Society will be open to the public in the Music Room. Palmerston Road, this week.
Seascapes, landscapes, still life and portraits in water colour, oils, pastel and other mediums number over 100, and there are some outstanding exhibits.
The majority of landscapes are of subjects in or near the Gisborne district, and for that reason attract additional interest. The work of “artist” members of the Gisborne branch of the society is ably represented, and work by some of the “student” members of the society is exhibited. It is one of the objects of the society to encourage student members to develop their talent so that they may attain “artist” status.
The exhibition will open to the public from 12.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and in the evening from 7.30 to 9 o’clock from Tuesday to Friday of this week, with a preview tonight for members and their invited guests.
