H. 5.0.8. AND MARIST REPEAT WINS OF FIRST ROUND IN P.B. RUGBY
Not since their first-round clash had Busby patrons at the Gisborne Oval seen such a stirring club game as that provided between the senior championship leaders, H. 5.0.8. (A) and Old Boys on Saturday. As a result H. 5.0.8. (A) remain unbeaten, though Old Boys provided the stiiTcst opposition to date and went down only by four points, the score being IS-It. At one stage H. 5.0.8. were 10 points in front, but Old Boys gradually reduced the deficit until they were within striking distance. Old Boys put everything they had into a spirited finish, but were unable to score.
By comparison the other two senior lames were mediocre. Celtic and Marist had little difficulty in defeating 11.5.0.8. <B) and Y.M.P. respectively. A keen south-easterly breeze proved ••dvantaeeous to teams defending the P.nv end of the ground but occasional light showers made conditions unnleasant Cor players and spectators alike.
