HILLSIDE RAILWAYMEN VOTE AGAINST STOPPAGE OF WORK
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, June 23. There will be no stoppage at the Hillside workshops on the day Parliament opens. This decision was announced yesterday after a secret ballot on the alternatives of a full-day stoppage, a half-day stoppage, or no stoppage at all had been taken.
A recount of votes today showed that a clear majority rejected the move. Figures released todav by officials of thg A.S.RS. and the R.T.A. were: No Stoppage. 499; fu'l stoppage, 224; partial stoppage, 123; informal. 8: total, 854; majority against stoppage, 152.
