The cold weather anil non-observance of the existing restrictions have sent the demand soaring. j Pointing the way arc these facts: More than 3.000.000 units were drawn from storage in the past week. | There was a record system demand of 135,652 kilowats on Wednesday. • The lake levels have fallen since the boost they received in the May 27 week--1 end storm. Yesterday, at a conference in ChrislI church of South Island power supply ; authority engineers, the district engii ncer of the Slate liydro-Electric De--1 parlment, Mr. W. H. Gregory, issued a warning that the authorities must stay within their quotas. He emphasised that consumption could not gt»m at the present rate without further restrictions and appealed to the authorities to get their demand down to the 1919 level.
