(10 a.m.) NEW Y r ORK. June 23. The yawl Argyll was officially confirmed tonight as the winner of the Newport-Benmida ocean yacht race. The Argyll captured both the Bermuda Trophy lqr the best corrected time and the l.alila t rophy awarded to class A.
Tlie Waihi Borough Council has increased the genera 1 rate by id in the pound, bringing the rate to 2s Gd. the maximum allowed bv the Rating Act. The total amalgamated rate for tlie year will be 3s sd. compared with 3s 3d. Tlie price of gas lias also been increased.
