WAIROA RIDER WINS GISBORNE ROAD RACE

B. Reardon, a visiting rider from Wairoa. won the Gisborne Amateur Cycling Club's second week-end road race on the Waihirere circuit. A good crowd gathered at the starting point at Haisman’s corner in Ormond Road. There were eight contestants who faced a strong wind until thev reached the turn for home at Waihirere. A bunch of four cyclists collided and R. Thomson and P. Thomson received bruises. They were attended to by a St, John Ambulance man. Both machines were so damaged that the riders were unable to continue the race. The impact occurred just before reaching Waihirere.

Reardon, off the limit mark of 12min. 30sec., won the race easily. Fastest time of 46min. 13sec. was recorded by N. Chamberlain. Results:
