MONDAY’S RUGBY: CURTAIN-RAISER FOR BIG MATCH

In consequence of the breakdown of an engagement between a Gisborne senior team and a sub-union side, previously arranged as a curtain-raiser to the East Coast-Poverty Bay senior representative match on Monday at the Oval, the P.B. Rugby Union management committee has had to review its arrangements. The Gisborne team will now meet Old Boys’ club team in the early match at 1.30 p.m. The Gisborne team will comprise the following players, some of whom may attract the attention of the combined districts’ selection committee: —

Full-back. Nepia (H. 5.0.8.); threequarters, Grcig (H. 5.0.8.), Jones (Y.M.P.), and Dearness (Marist): fiveeighths, Parker (Marist), and Tureia (Y.M.P.); half-back, Raggett (Marist); front-row forwards, Shaskey (Marist), Whaanga (Y.M.P.), and Ferguson (H. 5.0.8.); locks, Christie (Celtic), and Brown (Marist); back-row, Gibson (H. 5.0.8.), Brown (H. 5.0.8.), and Clayton-Greene (H. 5.0.8.). Reserves: Back, Torrie (H. 5.0.8.); forward, O’Rourke (Celtic).
