£500,000 DAMAGE BY FLOODS IN CENTRAL N.S.W.
SYDNEY, April 1
Floods which invaded the low lying areas of Central New South Wales on Thursday are now receding slowly, leaving damage to crops, property and industry estimated at more than £500,000.
At Dubbo, however, the MacQuarie River last night had begun to invade business premises in the main street. Cowra is also in the danger zone. Thousands of acres of crops and pastures in Central New South Wales are still under up to six feet of water. In the south the danger at Darlington Point, which was swept by the Murrumbidgee floodwaters, has now passed. Residents of Hay, further down the Murrumbidgee, expect the flood to reach the town on Monday.
