INTERNATIONAL SOCCER

AN INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL match was held recently at the Newcastle United Football Ground at St. James’ Park, Newcastle. The Holland international team lost by the odd goal against the England international B team. The game teas watched by a crowd of over 60,000 spectators, including many Dutchmen who had travelled from Holland with the team. The winning goal was scored by Lofthouse, the English centreforward, after 70 minutes’ play. This picture shows the Holland goalkeeper, P. C. Kraak, clearing a high ball from the head of Lofthouse and a Dutch defender.
