Citizens’ Association. At the recently-held meeting of the Tolaga Bay Citizens’ Association, Mr. H. Laing presided over a good attendance of members. Ways or raising funds were discussed, and it was decided to canvass for new members with a membership fee of £1 Is. It was decided to write to the Main Highways Board requesting the board's consideration of erecting a silent policeman on the Sheepfarmers’ corner. This corner approaching the bridge is particularly dangerous as there are no footpaths and all the school children from over the river use the road.
It was also decided to appoint Mr. Beedell to make a survey of the existing road signs as the committee thought that they could be placed to better advantage.
Inquiries are also to bo made for the purchase of a suitable section for the erection of a public convenience and gardens.
Plunkct Society Meets. The half-yearly meeting of the Tolaga Bay branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Plunket rooms on Tuesday. Mrs. Thomas was in the chair and there was a good attendance of members. After the business had been disposed of a dainty afternoon tea was served and a pleasant social hour brought the meeting to a close. Parish Priest Farewelled.
Father P. B. Flynn, the parish priest, who sailed for Rome and Ireland in the Rangitoto this week, was farewelled by the parishioners at a very pleasant evening held in the lounge of the Tolaga Bay Inn. Mrs. Gillman received the guests wearing a frock of black wool georgette with a spray of white asters.
Vocal items given by Mrs. B. O’Connor and Father Flynn, and Maori part songs were sung by Misses L. and M. Roberts. Amusing items were given by an impromptu string band organised by the hotel staff. Father Flynn was presented with a cheque by Mr. Condell. wao on behalf of the parishioners wished him a good (rip. A dainty supper served by the ladies brought the evening to a close. Tennis Parties.
Mrs. Ron Bartrum and Mrs. A. J. Reid were recent hostesses at their respective homes at all-day tennis parties. Lunch and afternoon tea were served in the gardens and some good tennis was enjoyed by the guests. Personal.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Palairct, who have been the guests of Mrs. Ron Bartrum, Waihnpua, have left for Dannevirke. Mrs. R. Bartrum was a week-end visitor to Hawke’s Bay.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Biles left Tolaga Bay for Napier on Wednesday en route to Wellington. They sail for England in tlie Mataroa on April 1. Dr. McConnell, school medical officer, paid a visit to Tolaga Bay on Tuesday. She was at the Plunkct rooms and examined 18 prc-school children.
