Near-Dead Sleeper On Sleepers

(10 a.m.) New York, Mar. 12. George Moore went to sleep on the sleepers between the rails of the Southern Pacific railway line at Oakland, California, yesterday. He was still sleeping after two goods trains and part of another train had passed over him. A railway employee eventually spotted Moore and called the police to come and take “the body” away. The police, however, found the body breathing heavily. They aw’akened Moore after some effort. He said he had not heard anything. Moore’s head had been only slightly more than an inch from one rail and his feet about the same distance from the other. He had a slight bruise on his head.
