National Margin Increased in Hawke’s Bay Poll

The National Party candidate for the Hawke’s Bay electorate, Mr. C. G. E. Harker, improved upon his position compared with the 1946 election, being returned on the provisional count with 3306 votes to spare as against a majority of 2014 in the previous contest. The results of the provisional counts were;— Harker 7836 _ Beattie 4530 The returns from the various booths covered by the circulation area of the Herald are:—

Local Wool at Napier Owing to unsettled weather this season shearing has been somewhat delayed and that will affect the size of the offering of district wool in the next Napier sale on January 27 and 30, 1950. It is expected in wool circles that the catalogue for the next Napier fixture will close about the end of this week.
