SWIFT AGREEMENT ON PLANS FOR WEST EUROPE’S DEFENCE
(9 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 30. The Chiefs of Staff of the 12 signatory countries of the North Atlantic Treaty, meeting in Paris on Tuesday for the first time since the treaty was signed, reached a full agreement on plans for the defence of Western Europe in event of attack by Russia. Reporting this on Tuesday night, the Daily Mail’s correspondent in Paris, said it was announced that the plans were intended to meeet “any emergency.” Two days had been allowed for the staff talks but officials said there was such harmony of views that the plans were agreed in less than three hours. They now await approval by the Defence Ministers of the 12 Powers who will meet in Paris on Thursday the correspondent added.
