King's.—“ The Set Up” presents a fast-mov-ing film story of rackets amonn small-time boxers and managers in America. Stars are Robert, Ryan, a .'la-years-old pugilist who couldn’t just make the grade in the “bigtime,” and his wife, Lucie, convincingly played by Audrey Trotter. The supports include a two-reel comedy, a Today and Tomorrow series, a Movie Memory, and a Walt Disney cartoon. Regent.—“ The Three Musketeers” concludes today. “Edward, My Son.” which opens tomorrow, is an M.G.M. silver anniversary picture featuring Spencer Tracey and Deborah Kerr, two of Hollywood's most popular stars. The story is that of a man with an obsession to provide the best in life for his only child. The play was one of the most successful produced in London and New York in years. The theme covers 30 years in a man’s life, and presents Tracey. Miss Kerr and a notable cast of players in scene after scene of tense drama. Majestic.—" Boston Hlackie's Chinese Venture” screens today with Chester Morris in the title role. The screen’s dapper rogue participates in’ one of his briskest adventures in this exciting jaunt through New York’s Chinatown on the trail of a murder. The associate feature, "Rose of Santa Rosa,” stars the Hoosier Hot Shots. Plans are open for the technicolour production "Calamity Jane and Sam Hass.” which screens on Saturday. Opera House.—Over 200 colourful costumes will bo worn in the Christmas pantomime to he presented by Maureen Kenny on Wednesday, December 7, at 8 p.m. and at a children’s matinee on Saturday, December 10, at 2 p.m. In "Dick Whittington." which will delight young and old. 100 adult and juvenile performers will lie soon in u medley of laughter and song and colourful dancing. Pantomime characters include the Dairy Queen, the Old Witch, the principal hoy, Dick, the principal girl, Alice, and the funny Dana*. Plans for both performances are now open at the premises of Arthur Toye Ltd. The proceeds are in aid of the Mine Mataroa Horne.
