Queen Tells “Miss N.Z.” of Hope to Visit Dominion
LONDON, Nov. 1. "Miss New Zealand” (Miss Mary Woodward) was presented to the Queen when the Queen, as patron of the Victoria League, went to the league’s house in South-West London today. Miss Woodward told the Queen that every New Zealander was hoping for a visit bv some member of the Royal Family to make up for the great disappointment at the cancellation of this year's Royal tour. The Queen said: “I hope we shall be able to make the visit. We very much want to.” The presentation occurred as the Queen was given six sets of woollen blankets embroidered in silk, a gift to their Maiesties from eight Victoria League centres in New Zealand. Representatives from Auckland, Can terburv, Marlborough, New Plymouth, Otago, Poverty Bay, Warrington and Wellington were presented to the Queen who thanked them for the gift.
