ASIA NEEDS U.S. AID FOR DEVELOPMENT, SAYS NEHRU
(10 a.m.) NEW YORK. Nov. 1. Mr. Nehru said today that the renaissance of Asia was a change of supreme importance in the world scene. He was addressing 10,000 students and visitors in the California University open-air stadium at San Francisco in the third and last major political speech of his American tour. National freedom was the first essential in India and some of the Asian territory still under colonial domination must have freedom. Economic betterment of the Asian masses was equally essential, both from their point of view and the point of view of world peace and stability. This would involve progressive industrialisation and the United States could play a vital role in this task.
